LOVE is a simple tool which allows you to download or export your entire Vimeo library. It supports downloading to your computer or exporting to Google Drive or Livid.
It works by logging into your Vimeo account via the LOVE tool, discovering your videos and copying them to your destination of choice.
You can download LOVE for Windows and Mac at livid.com/love. Once downloaded, simply run the LOVE installer to set it up on your computer.
LOVE consists of 3 stages:
- Logging into Vimeo via LOVE
- Selecting the videos you wish to export/download
- Exporting to a chosen destination - You computer, Google Drive or Livid.
Getting Started
On launching LOVE, you’ll be greeted with a Vimeo login screen. You need to log into the Vimeo account you wish to export from.
If you’re in the UK or parts of the EU you may be asked to verify your age by Vimeo. This done via a 3rd party called Persona. Livid has no control over this. You can complete this step within LOVE or if you’d prefer you can do it via your browser by logging into your Vimeo account at Vimeo.com
Once you login, LOVE will begin searching for all the videos on your account:
Note, if you belong to more than one team you will be asked to select the team you wish to export from. You can return to this screen to export from a different team at a later stage if need be:
Once LOVE has finished scanning for videos it will show you a list of all it has found. If you do need to change team, select the refresh button to trigger the team selector:
You can either select all your videos by pressing (1), or select the individual videos you wish to export (2).
Once you’ve made your selection, the options to either export (1) or download (2) will appear. Select your desired option
Downloading
On the Download screen you will need to select the folder you wish to download to (1). Ensure you have enough available space (2) for the download. Note the estimated space required (3) is exactly that; an estimate. The final file sizes may be different.
Select Begin Export to start the download.
Your export will begin shortly. Note that particularly large libraries can take sometime before progress is shown.
Once complete, you’ll have the option to open the folder (1) where the videos have been downloaded to, or if you have more videos you need to export, select Back to videos (2)
Exporting
You can export your videos directly to Google Drive or Livid.
Exporting to Google Drive
On the export screen, select Connect (1) for Google Drive
This will open a browser window where you can select the Google account you wish to export to.
Once you select the account, you’ll then need to agree to the Livid Privacy Policy and Terms of Service followed by agreeing to a set of permissions which will allow LOVE to export directly into Google Drive.
Once it’s connected you’ll see the Successfully Connected screen. At this point you can return to the LOVE app
LOVE will have updated to show your connected Google Drive. Provided you have enough space on your Google Drive you will be able to begin the export.
Upon pressing Begin ExportLOVE will begin the export process. Depending on the size of your library this can take some time.
Once complete you can click to open your Google Drive (1) or select Back to videos (2) if you have other videos or accounts to export from.
Exporting to Livid
On the export screen, select Export to Livid (1).
You’ll then be asked to log in. If you do not have an account we will create one for you on this step. You can either login with Google or use email.
If using email, you’ll then need to obtain a security code from your email inbox.
Once you’re logged in, you’ll then have the option to select the folder you’re exporting to. If this is a new account you’ll only have one folder. LOVE will show the estimated space your videos will use along with the available space on your account. Select Begin Exportto start the process.
All new accounts receive a 1 week free trial of our Pro plan which includes 2TB of storage. If you do not upgrade at the end of the week then your account will auto downgrade to the Free plan with 1GB of storage.
The export will begin. Depending on the number of videos you have and the size of them this process can take a while. You can Open Lividto see the videos being populated in your library.
- All your folders will be transferred over
- All your descriptions will be transferred over
- Any privacy settings will be replicated (Public videos stay public, Private stays private)
LOVE will prevent your computer going to sleep whilst it runs to ensure the connection is not interrupted.
Once the transfer is complete you can go and view all your videos in the Livid Library.
Congratulations! You can now cancel your Vimeo plan! If you have any time left on an annual plan with Vimeo then send us your invoice and we’ll credit it to your account. We’re nice like that 🙂
