Livid Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Livid. We offer video hosting for individuals and small businesses. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Livid platform, including visitors, account holders, and viewers of videos hosted on Livid.

This policy describes how Livid, Inc. ("Livid," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our website, our hosting services, and our migration tools (including the "L.O.V.E" tool).

By using Livid, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, you are free to stay with a legacy video host, but we don't recommend it.

2. Information We Collect

We keep data collection minimal. We want your videos, not your life story.

2.1. Information You Provide

  • Account Data: We do not ask for your name, and we do not store a password. You can sign up using one of two passwordless methods:
    • Magic Link: You provide your email address, and we email you a secure login link.
    • Google Auth (SSO): You authenticate via your Google account. We receive your email address from Google to set up your account. We do not store your Google password or access other private Google data.
  • Billing Information: If you upgrade to our Pro plan ($10/month or $16/month), our payment processor collects your payment details (credit card number, billing name, and address). Livid does not store your full credit card number or billing identity on our servers; we prefer to let the fintech experts handle that security.
  • User Content: This includes the video files, thumbnails, captions, and metadata you upload to our platform.
  • Communications: If you contact our support team ("Support so good youโ€™ll want to be friends"), we keep a record of that correspondence to help resolve your issue.

2.2. Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage Data: We track how you interact with our dashboard, features, and player settings. This helps us fix bugs and improve the product.
  • Device Data: We collect IP addresses, browser types, and operating system info. This is standard internet protocol and essential for security and analytics.
  • The "Ex" Files (Imported Data): When you use the Livid One-click Video Exporter (L.O.V.E), you authorize us to access your account on third-party platforms (like Vimeo) using the credentials or tokens you provide. We access this solely to fetch your videos, folders, and metadata to migrate them to Livid. We do not retain your third-party password after the session is closed, nor do we modify your data on the external platform.

3. Cookies

To keep things streamlined, we have included our cookie practices right here rather than in a separate document.

We use cookies and local storage to:

  1. Keep you logged in (verifying your session via Magic Link or Google Auth).
  1. Remember your preferences (like your player customization settings).
  1. Understand how people use our site (analytics).

We do not use cookies to sell your browsing history to advertisers. If you disable cookies or local storage, core features of Livid (including authentication) may not function correctly.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

  • Provide the Service: Hosting, transcoding, and streaming your videos.
  • Authentication: Verifying your identity via email or Google SSO so you can access your account.
  • Process Payments: Getting you on the Pro plan so you can ditch the watermarks and upload more.
  • Communicate: Sending you login links, invoices, and product updates. We might occasionally send a newsletter, but we promise not to spam you.
  • Improve Livid: Analyzing usage patterns to decide which features to build next.
  • Security: Detecting fraud and preventing abuse of our generous bandwidth allowances.
  • Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR): We process personal data based on one or more of the following legal grounds: performance of a contract (providing the Livid service), legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), legal obligations (tax and compliance), and consent (marketing communications, where required).

5. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell your personal data. That is not our business model. We only share data with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party companies that help us run the show (e.g., payment processors like Stripe, cloud hosting providers, and email delivery services). They only get what they need to do the job.
  • Legal Requirements: If a court order forces us to disclose data, we will comply. However, we will always try to notify you first unless legally prohibited.
  • Business Transfers: If Livid is acquired or merges with another company, your data will be part of the deal. Ideally, this results in a better service for you.
  • Abuse & Safety: We may share information if necessary to investigate violations of our Terms of Service, prevent fraud, or protect the safety of users, the public, or our infrastructure.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information and content for as long as your account is active.

  • Account Deletion: To delete your account and all associated data, you must contact us directly at support@livid.com. Once verified, we will delete your videos and personal data from our active databases. Some billing records may be retained for tax purposes because the government demands it.
  • Backup Retention: Deleted data may persist in our secure backups for a short period before being overwritten.

7. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS) for data in transit and robust security measures for data at rest.

Important Note on Account Security: Since we do not use passwords, the security of your Livid account relies on the security of your email inbox or Google account.

  • If you use Magic Links, anyone with access to your email inbox can login.
  • If you use Google Auth, anyone with access to your logged-in Google session can login. We strongly recommend you secure your email or Google account with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). We cannot protect you if your primary email account is compromised.

8. Children

Livid is not intended for anyone under the age of 16 (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is older). If we discover an account has been created by someone under this age, we will delete it immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

Livid Inc. is a United States company founded in the state of Delaware. Our service providers may process data in the United States, United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you have rights regarding your data:

  • Access: You can ask for a copy of your data.
  • Correction: You can update your email or billing info.
  • Deletion: You can ask us to delete your account (contact support@livid.com).
  • Portability: You can take your videos elsewhere (though we doubt you will find a better deal).

To exercise these rights, email us at support@livid.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we grow. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice on the dashboard. Continued use of Livid after changes means you accept the new terms.

12. Public & Embedded Videos

If you choose to make a video public or embed it on a third-party website, that content may be viewed by anyone with access to the link. Livid is not responsible for how third parties collect or use data when viewers interact with embedded videos on external sites.

13. Contact Information

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, contact us at:
