Restricting domain access on your videos

Restrict your Livid videos to specific domains to prevent unauthorized playback, with optional wildcard support and the ability to disable the direct watch page.

You can restrict the domains your videos can be watched from using the Restrict embed domains  option on the Share & Embed controls of a video:

How it works

If no domains are entered into this section then your video is playable everywhere provided the correct visibility settings are set.

If you add a domain, then your video will only play on that domain. If a user tries to access the video from another domain, it will not play. This is useful if your placing your video behind a paywall.

Step by step

When adding a domain, ensure any additional characters in the URL are removed.

If you would like to add a wildcard domain, meaning all sub-domains are included then add *.  before the URL. e.g.

Select Add  and the domain will be added. Videos will now only play back on that domain.

Blocking watch page access

If you only want your video viewable as an embed and not via the Livid watch link you can also disable the watch page with this toggle:

Users attempting to access the watch link will now be greeted with the following message (note, the link will still work for you when you’re logged in):
